On the 6th of September 2023, MCC alumni were invited to experience Malaysia’s first experiential cybersecurity conference organised by Cybertronium at Connexion Conference & Event Centre (CCEC), Nexus Bangsar South.

Cybertron 2023 featured cybersecurity awareness talks and demonstrations of real-life hacking scenarios encountered in everyday situations. According to Optimus Prime, Dr Clement Arul, the event aimed to expose non-technical audiences to the importance of data protection and the real-world impact of cyber threats.

It was truly an honour for the team to attend and observe the demonstrations firsthand, gaining valuable practical insights from the experience.

Team L0stPaR4d0x, represented by Kelvin, KS, and Mohin, achieved outstanding results during BATxAPU CTF 2023, an internal CTF organised by British American Tobacco and APU on the 2nd of September 2023.

Unlike traditional CTFs, participants were placed in a kidnapping investigation scenario, requiring them to traverse the campus to gather challenges and evidence. The challenges focused on blue team disciplines such as Forensics, OSINT, Reverse Engineering, and Cryptography.

At the end of the competition, teams were required to produce a forensic report summarising their findings alongside the CTF writeup.
