May 2025 - Achievements & Contributions
A month of technical workshops and certification achievements, with alumni leading knowledge sharing sessions and earning advanced cybersecurity credentials.
Jia Qi is a HTB CDSA!
Yeo Jia Qi, a passionate blue team enthusiast, has successfully completed the Hack The Box Certified Defensive Security Analyst (CDSA) course. Known for its hands-on labs and difficulty, CDSA is one of the more challenging certifications for defensive security.
HTB Meetup @ UTHM - SSTI Edition
Things got _template-ly_ wild at UTHM’s Hack The Box Meetup, powered by REHACK, ICE, and Deta! Around 20 students dived into Server-Side Template Injection (SSTI) chaos with Boss Udang (Thaqif Hud, MCC2024 alum) at the helm.
From Spookifier to Labyrinth Linguist, participants got hands-on with real SSTI exploits — learning, breaking, and laughing through it all. Clean templates? Overrated.
NETSA Skill Challenge CTF @ UTeM
NETSA Skill Challenge CTF @ UTeM — Where Skills Got Tested, and Flags Got Popped!
Held on 24 May 2025, by Sarah, this wasn’t your average “chill Saturday.” 20 teams went head-to-head in a cyber showdown at the Faculty of Information & Communication Technology, UTeM, and let’s just say — no shell was left unpopped.
From pwn to web to everything in between, the challenges were cooked up just right — big shoutout to Sarah and the NETSA crew for making it all happen.
And of course, major love to the familiar faces from MCC and RE:UN10N who rolled deep and brought serious fire to the leaderboard.
Fira's AI Integration with Security Workshop
In a recent talk, Fira gave an "AI Integration with Security" workshop, discussing the synergy between AI and cybersecurity. Key topics included utilizing large language models for log analysis and threat detection, alongside exploring real-world attacks such as prompt injection and data poisoning. She also shared practical tips on initiating efforts in AI security and general cybersecurity.
UMCS x RE:HACK — Where Cyber Dreams Get Real!
UMCS just dropped a cyber event that hit all the right notes — and it wasn’t just about the tech. It was about the vibes.
With **Firdaus Amran (aka ViceVirus)** steering the tech ship as Technical Director and **Khiew from PEKOM** keeping everything on track as Event Director, this wasn’t your average campus event. It was a full-on cyber carnival.
From mind-bending challenges to late-night debugging sessions, the energy was off the charts. Big shoutout to all the challenge creators for bringing the heat and to everyone who showed up and showed out in the CTF & Workshops. Who’s ready for the next level?
**Capang Cracks It Again at HTB Meetup IIUM!**
On May 10th, the HTB Meetup at IIUM, organized by SIG: Cybersecurity IIUM and supported by ICE, DeTA, CoExCys, and RE:HACK, transformed into a pwn playground.
Our very own **Capang (Irfan Haziq)** took the stage, guiding attendees through the intricacies of pwndbg and buffer overflows.
From setting up pwntools to diving deep into registers, the session was packed with insights and hands-on challenges.
**Amir Goes OffByOne!**
Guess who just leveled up IRL?
Our very own _abang long_, **Amir** just attended **OffByOne Conference 2025** — one of Singapore’s coolest underground gatherings of hackers, builders, and breakers. From hallway chats to hardcore talks, it was all about real community, real stories, and real tech.
He came, he vibed, he took notes (and maybe a few stickers too).
Now he's back, charged up and inspired.
BlackBerry CTF 2025 — Cyber Mayhem Meets Campus Talent!
On May 8th, the BlackBerry Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE) teamed up with RE:UN10N to host one of the most electrifying Jeopardy-style CTFs of the year!
With 17 top university teams battling it out on everything from binary pwn to digital forensics, this was more than just a game — it was a statement: Malaysia’s cyber future is blazing bright.
Massive shoutout to all participants who brought the heat. This is what next-gen cyber talent looks like.
Imran's DFIR Workshop
No stranger to incident response and forensics, Imran makes digging through digital crime scenes look way too easy.
Fresh off his session at UM, where he walked students through malware trails, Windows artifacts, and a spicy DFIR CTF — this guy doesn’t just teach forensics, he lives it.
